Reconstruction of the Landcare Resource Centre

Works are progressing with the upgrade to the Landcare Resource Centre with construction underway since July 2021.

Completion of the new Centre is sometime after mid 2022.

Landcare volunteers and visitors are reminded the Landcare Resource Centre will be closed to the public and ‘drop-in’ visits during the construction period – appointments for all visits will be required.

For appointments please contact the team on 49210392 or

In addition to enhancing the services the Landcare Resource Centre offers, the works will deliver a community hub for our City to demonstrate sustainable living design principles. It will also provide a dedicated site for engagement around sustainable living practices and volunteer support, training, coordination and collaboration.

The project involves the construction of:

  • a community centre including training room,
  • resource centre,
  • community work stations,
  • meeting room, and
  • amenities.

Construction is expected to be completed sometime after mid 2022.

Changes to Landcare services during construction

Landcare volunteers – While works are completed the Landcare Resource Centre will be closed for face-to-face services. Services by the Landcare Resource Office will still be provided although some staff will be working off site. You can contact the team by calling 4921 0392 or emailing

Resources will be able to be collected by appointment or deliveries may be arranged. The Green Team will still operate to support Landcare groups but they may meet on-site rather than starting and finishing at the centre.

Plant sales – A selection of plants will be available for purchase where resources allow. Details regarding the plant species available will be regularly updated on the Landcare website. Phone orders will be accepted and limited browsing opportunities may be available from December.

The nursery will continue to provide plant orders for projects but more notice for orders and pick-ups will be required.

Nursery volunteers – A limited number of nursery volunteer positions will still be available at the Centre during construction. These positions will work closely with the staff that remain at the centre to continue modified nursery operations.

Lake Mac Grows and crop swap events – Lake Mac Grows events will continue at other locations while the centre is under construction. To find dates and location details, join the  Lake Mac Grows Facebook Group.
