National Volunteer Week 2019

To celebrate National Volunteer Week (20-26 May), Lake Macquarie Landcare hosted an event on Wednesday 22 May to give thanks to Landcare volunteers. The event was held at the Landcare Resource Centre in Booragul and applauded the world of difference volunteers make to our communities and our environment. Over 40 volunteers attended as well as LMCC staff and delegates.

After a morning tea with yummy scones, volunteers were presented with certificates of appreciation by State Member for Charlestown, Jodie Harrison, State Member for Lake Macquarie, Greg Piper and Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Cr Kay Fraser.

Chair of the LMLVN, Lois Simpson, then gave a presentation on the value and challenges of smaller Landcare sites. Photos and stories of her experiences at Arbre Close Landcare site were shared.

Volunteers then enjoyed a quick nursery tour and a potting-up activity, led by nursery volunteers Janette and Grete.

Lunch was followed by an engaging presentation by Suzanne Pritchard about connecting the Landcare sites of Coal Point.

Thank you to all who joined us in acknowledging our wonderful volunteers.
